For a quiet pre-4th of July evening, I prepared something I didn’t consider too fancy or too difficult for a night in. I just had wholesome in mind and the simpleness ended up being almost elegant.
Pan-fried pastured pork brat sausages from the Nebraska Food Co-Op. Chopped Kale boiled with 1 c. of my homemade Beef Bone Broth, 1 c. Water and Himalayan salt to taste. Simply Organic Guacamole Dip seasoning tossed over 1 medium chopped tomato from a farmer’s market and 2 not quite ripe avocados. The avocados weren’t soft enough to make the dip itself, but it didn’t disappoint as a garnish.
I had a different dessert in mind with this lovely frozen berry medley I wanted to use up before all of the fresh ones were in season. But, ended up just serving them over raw milk goat cheese slices, also from the Nebraska Food Co-Op. They paired well with a glass of 337, a nice 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon from Lodi.
The best part of this real food meal is that is took me about 15 minutes to prepare. And also, it was extremely healthy!
Real & Simple.

Looks yummy. I wish someone with some cooking skills lived in my house. I found out we do or did have a farmers market here, so I'll have to send the nanny out to check it out for me.
Enjoy the holiday!
